We are about to enter the age of space advertising

Now that has been proven that entire constellations of satellites can be controlled, we will have the logos of Mc Donalds, Pepsi, Cola, and all well known brands taking over the sky.
How does it feel to know you'll live through the era when the night sky your ancestors grew up under is replaced with a constant montage of advertisements?

I'm putting together a robowaifu motor and chatbot for a pony wife. >pic related is a big ol bldc motor for a rawdog direct drive hip motor, and I'll load it into a robot sim once I have weight/torque figures. For the chatbot I'd like to stitch together with api whisper speech to text, PygmalionAI, and any combination of talknet, pony SVS, and real time voice cloning. The project will use open source software and hardware wherever possible, and I'm not sure about the simulator. It will have a self-cleaning robot horse pussy, as soon as I make one.

The Techno-Political Implications Of Human Taskmasters Behind "AI" services
Anonymous
No.3284
As you might've heard by now, Amazon's "Grocery A.I" was operated by 1000 people in India:
https://youtu.be/_y6y4Fd1gWQ

This isn't the first time an "AI" service has been revealed to be done by human taskmasters in some third world shithole being paid $2 an hour to do things that clients were told a machine was doing. Part of it is the all-too-common "fake it till you make it" attitude in the tech industry, as tech firms hope to eventually replace these workers with machines. Part of it is also a ruse for outsourcing tech jobs to foreign countries, without pissing off citizens, governments, or shareholders who might be alarmed by it.

What are the technological/political implications of so many "AI" services actually being maintained by underpaid, poorly-trained, human taskmasters in Asia and the Pacific Islands? How much of AI is fake? Could it be that some of these technologies that claim to be replacing tech-oriented labor in developed countries are simply outsourcing labor to cheaper places elsewhere?

if only people ACTUALLY used them as currency, you never see anyone actually buying things with it, all anyone ever does with crypto is throw money at it and hope a greater fool comes along willing to pay more that they paid for it before the rug pull. nobody buys stuff with it, it's all speculating and if they make a profit they sell it for cash and still buy stuff with their national currency which defeats the purpose of crypto entirely

Can we have a bitcoin thread?

I have been meaning to donate to this website for some time now and came to conclusion that bitcoin offers best privacy while doing so.

https://bitcoin.org/en/
https://bitcoin.org/en/getting-started
https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

I have been reading up on it and was wondering if anyone here uses bitcoin and which wallet are you using?

I am liking the idea of having offline cold storage on my olderlaptop for more security so I am considering getting "Armory" wallet.

I want to love silver, I really do. but they won't let it spike in price like they will other stuff, silver is in the 20ish dollar range, the same as it was in 2008, you have lost money to inflation owning it because aside from a few big spikes here and there it trades flat for decades at a time

A tech I keep preciously for an eventual SHTF situation and alternate ways of communication outside internet remains radio, IDK how many others have like, a Retevis or a Baofeng, but I'm glad to have these small, handled talkies.

I have a thing for that UV-K5, the reception range makes it more a scanner than just a talkie, especially with hacked firmware, which is starting to be a thing now, plus the radio is under 20 bucks on ali.

So basically as long as I use the radio under 2W it's legal?
What do you think about other packet-radio protocols such as LoRaWAN(proprietary) or DASH7(more open)? AMPRNet requires one to register ones callsign to optain an IP address so that falls mostly out of the question.

ANFR.png
>>3238
yes that's the big idea, of having a wireless, long distance network to at least exchange text and some jpeg with the adequate protocol, mostly x.25 or maybe even IP addressing as if it was a 56K modem behind. then it's a story of bandwidth, we had to make one like this in EE college as part of the test, that was a loong time ago. Now you can find ardunios for almost nothing.

>>3239
it depends so much on the regions, here the anfr allows the 446MHz PMR for free with 18channels but at 0,5w and iirc, 466 in the US/canada so if you go with a boofwang and stay mobile away, don't get caught transmitting above one watt, and if really all coms are down, jump on the VHF/ham frequencies as a last resort, scan the frequencies, listen and ask politely, it's not /b/. don't saturate things unless they are the enemy, then you can plug in some mp3 player and rickroll away.

>>3241
the whole thing about transmission should be covered by free speech, and i wish we had some free VHF channels to transmit on, this is more useful than just having a kilometre range of transmission with the 446.

Biopunk
Anonymous
No.3243
The cyborgs, sentient AI, directed energy weapons, and robots envisioned by cyberpunk have not yet materialized. Meanwhile gene editing, biohackers, synthetic biology, chimeras, designer drugs, plasma clinics, nootropics, and ridiculously expensive healthcare all exist right now. We don't live in a cyberpunk novel, we live in a biopunk world. How is this genere less popular?
Anonymous
No.3244
Honestly? I think cyberpunk is engaging because it demonstrates the more fantastic and excessive grit encountered in dystopia. I think that if the anxiety pertaining to mass surveillance, rogue AI, urban sprawl and cybernetic cognitohazards aren't compelling in their own right, it's the nostalgic imagery and retro-futurism that endears an audience to its trappings.

As far as biopunk is concerned, I'd think that all but the most invested cast it aside much like they would dieselpunk and the other disparately related settings. Even steampunk appears to have been in decline, in spite of having some mainstream presence 12 or so years ago.

I think that despite advances in genetic engineering, people would prefer more grotesque imagery like body horror. John Carpenter and David Cronenberg seem more ingrained in the public consciousness than works exploring gene manipulation and biology-warping drugs. That being written, do you know any biopunk novels worth reading?

AI pone show/game is neigh.
Someone made a live stream of Spongebob using the Unity Game Engine, Uberduck TTS, and GPT-3 davinci with some python.
Pulling from a list of topics user generated and randomly selected.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNteXQOQZkM

It's been done before in a paper from Google and Stanford. With AI agents with memory going around doing human like stuff.
More sophisticated only by a few extra steps and lacking the Text To Speech.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBvyxc0PSlc

https://arxiv.org/pdf/2304.03442.pdf

http://reverie.herokuapp.com/arXiv_Demo/#

And before that Nothing, Forever a Seinfeld inspired AI show.

I wouldn't be surprised if a standalone application or game like Garry's Mod or SFM or something similar appears.

Jewgle and all of them would probably use this technology to model people even more.
